Australia wide CPR/First Aid online training.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. Once completed, participants will obtain an Nationally accredited First Aid certificate that is valid for three years.

Entry Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course; however, it is recommended that participants have sufficient English language and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the first aid training.

Participants will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments at floor level. This includes demonstrating CPR on a manikin for a period of two minutes. If you have poor mobility or a current injury please discuss this with us prior to booking. You will need to be able to video yourself and upload or have someone help you.

Note: Appropriate WHS approved footwear and clothing is required (closed in shoes and comfortable ‘work suited’ clothes).

Course Content

Legal Issues and Infection control
DRSABCD action plan
The principles of first aid and its applications
Recognition and management of emergency situations
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Defibrillation
Treatment of shock, infection, fractures, bleeding and burns
Emergencies due to lack of oxygen, excess heat or cold
Recognition and management of medical conditions that may need emergency care, including heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
Management of common medical emergencies
Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings

Duration

It is expected the training online will take approximately 3 hours online. This will vary depending on your skills and the course is designed to allow you to work at your own pace.

Participants are required to complete all online assessments as well as the practical components that will need to be recorded and uploaded to your student portal.

All practical components will be need to be recorded on your smart phone and uploaded.

Assessment

This course is assessed through online activity, demonstration, presentation by recording and uploading your practical work. The minimum age requirement for this unit of competency is 14 years old on the date of the training. Certificates are issued the next business day after your booked training, providing the online theory has been completed and all practical tasks have been uploaded and are clearly visiable to our Trainers.

*Please note, it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised approved statement of attainment for the following unit of competence:

HLTAID011 – Provide first aid

*Note: This unit of competency incorporates the content of HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life support.

Location

You can complete this class in any location at your discretion, Australia Wide.

Validity

Three (3) years from the date of course. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that the CPR component of this course be updated every 12 months.
